The production is inspired by the complex human nature in a disharmonious confrontation between love and anger, creation and destruction, community and loneliness. In the network of wedding outfits and contractual obligations it shows a dystopian world in which we’re all married to the social system. It is an arranged marriage. And what are the fundamental conditions? Is it possible to think about a divorce?

The message is based on the cultural diversity of images, defined mostly by sound and music – a clever synthesis of well-known tunes and new compositions by the permanent artistic collaborator David Price, who articulates and emotionally builds the story and collates it into a performing whole. The soundscape is created by a mindful breath and the use of twelve languages (Basque, Serbian, Cantonese, Norwegian, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Georgian, German, Welsh, Russian and Esperanto) – it is not necessary that the audience understands every word that is spoken.

The Wedding was created in co-production with DanceEast, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich, Northern Stage, HOME Manchester and 707 N-Theatre Co. Ltd Beijing (Edinburgh Fringe Showcase in China) in collaboration with Lighthouse Poole and Warwick Arts Centre and the support of the art centre The Point in Eastleigh.
