Bridges Between Riverbanks

A talk with Tone Partljič, Nejc Gazvoda and Aleksandar Popovski in cooperation with Maribor Library

Our "bridges between riverbanks" are first the bridges on the Drava River. The Old, or Main, Bridge is in the title and the centre of Tone Partljič’s monumental novel about the city in the first couple of decades of the 20^thcentury. The destinies of real citizens, whom the loyal literary chronicler and a superb comediographer also describes in his collection Ljudje iz Maribora (People from Maribor) will come to life on stage in the jubilee season of the SNT Maribor in the adaptation by the Grum Award winner Nejc Gazvoda, directed by Aleksandar Popovski, the artistic director of Drama SNT Maribor. The talk with the artistic trio will not only touch upon the bridge between prose and drama texts, between classical and contemporary scripts and staging approaches, but will also be a discourse on the relationship between reality and fiction, local and global, the becoming and the binding. The stories we should be listening to are way more numerous than the ones we like to listen to. The discussion will be moderated by Petra Vidali.
