A Look Inside: Theatre Artists Here and Now

A round table organised by the Slovenian Association of Dramatic Artists ZDUS-SADA

At this year’s Day of Theatre Artists, the Slovenian Association of Dramatic Artists (ZDUS-SADA) will present some current projects that are rooted in the everyday of the self-employed, fully employed and retired members of the association.

The goal of the Proposal to define standards and normatives for work in theatredefines the term "personal preparation", now that hyper-production has shown its negative sides. Within this project, a survey was conducted about the situation of actors in institutions; a large number of employed actors and actresses responded. The findings are illuminating, and will be presented in detail at the round table. Another survey is in the works for self-employed members, but it is more time consuming, as the difficulties encountered by the self-employed are complex and numerous. 

Likewise, the ZDUS-SADA would like to underline the importance of establishing a specialised health dispensary for workers employed in culture and arts, as working in these fields presents specific challenges, problems and illnesses that go beyond general practice. 

The round table will also open questions about the conditions of work for Slovenian playwrights and their improvement, and about the retired members of ZDUS-SADA and intergenerational cooperation.
