The Fishermen’s Squabbles is an adaptation of Goldoni’s comedy Le baruffe chiozzotte. Inspired by Molièra, Goldoni created a character comedy, because he believed life is the expression of thinking, will and the forces that create society, and not of coincidences. The story is set in the fishing village of Chioggia near Venice. Love and jealousy, sincerity and shrewdness, peppered with folk humour, lead two family camps to a serious confrontation that develops with the speed of a hurricane and pulls everybody into an entertaining mess. It seems that nobody can quell the boisterous temperament of the fishermen and their wives. How does the story that began because of a trifle end? Will the passions quiet down? Will Chioggia see harmony again?
